R.S. Taylherman writes science fantasy that explores what it means to be human through unfamiliar worlds.
Based in Ohio, Taylherman grew up along the North Coast, shaped by a mix of city life, quiet suburbs, and time spent outdoors. That contrast carries into his work, where layered societies and lived-in environments feel both alien and familiar.
His debut novel, Strange Faetes, begins the Starwalker Oddity series, set on the planet Ruenova. The story follows characters pulled into a growing conflict that challenges identity, memory, and the cost of survival. While the setting spans civilizations and timelines, the focus stays grounded in human choices and consequences.
Taylherman’s work draws on a belief that speculative fiction can do more than escape reality.
At its best, it reflects it.
His stories lean into tension, connection, and the quiet decisions that shape who people become.
